Mercedes Schlapp's role as White House Strategic Communications Advisor isn't easy. It's not easy for Mercedes Schlapp as the adviser to strategic communications at the White House. In the beginning, she has concentrated on school safety issues, addiction infrastructure, and trade with the world. Schlapp isn't involved with journalists frequently in her current job. She gained attention when she was named as a candidate to replace Hope Hicks, the communications director. Mercedes Schlapp does not have a simple job of White House strategic communication adviser. It's not an easy task for Mercedes Schlapp to serve as the White House's communications strategic advisor. She's faced with a myriad of challenges, including as being the President's communications director, and is his communications director. Schlapp is keeping her eyes on the target, and has been coordinating the implementation of policy with White House staff from the Political and Legislative Affairs team and policy shop as well as broader communication. To date, her focus has been issues such as safety in schools and the opioid crisis, infrastructure, trade, as well as other topics. In her role, Schlapp is not in contact with many journalists. But she drew a burst of interest in March, after her name was suggested as a potential replacement Hope Hicks as communications director. It's been a nasty fight. Schlapp's allies started fighting Tony Sayegh in the press. Schlapp stated that after that the Washington Examiner ran a story which contained negative criticisms of Sayegh she sat down for a chat with him.
