Four of them come from her father's previous marriage. The family was initially located in Buenos Aires, but moved to Victoria when she was aged six. According to Taylor-Joy, the relocation was difficult and she was unable to study English with the intention of moving back to Argentina. Hill House became her school of choice after Taylor-Joy was ordered to move schools. She then enrolled at Queen's Gate School and studied ballet, while also performing in school's productions. After she turned 16, she quit school in order to take on a full-time job in acting. Since her early years, Taylor-Joy knew that she wanted to become an actress and her dreams came true when she was approached for a modeling gig by Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
